Christmas arrives a day early with a visit to ‘The Red Shoes’ at Sadler’s Wells

The Red Shoes

Loved Matthew Bourne’s production of ‘The Red Shoes’, which I watched today at the consistently-excellent Sadler’s Wells. Impossible to fault any aspect of this elegant tear-jerker of a show: the dancing, costumes and sets were all perfect. Such a moving story, and its themes as relevant now as ever: this story of obsession, possession and one girl’s quest for fame are as relevant in 2016 as they were in 1948, when the film was made. Draw-droppingly gorgeous: the perfect Christmas treat.
